Hi,

I'm looking for a twitter client to follow the organisations and people I'm interested in. I don't want to use twitter, but I have to keep track and I need a good twitter client. The only one that works now in Trisquel is Gwibber , but it's old and it lacks a lot of features.

I found Corebird http://corebird.baedert.org/ , but I don't know if it's free and if can run on Trisquel 6.0.1 ...maybe on the next version of Trisquel? (is it possible to make a suggestion for a new twitter client for the next version of Trisquel?)

Can anyone recommend something for keeping track with twitter (avoiding the use of the actual site) or tell me if Corebird is free and how can I install it on Trisquel 6.0.1 ? (I'm not very good with installing from source or technical stuff- dependencies, libraries etc.)

Thank you

Corebird is free software under the GPL.

Great, thank you Legimet.
Now the next question is if somebody managed to install it on Trisquel 6.0.1.

I tried to install it like it says in the "readme" file, but I couldn't do it. Trisquel doesn't meet the requirements that Corebird needs (some old dependencies that can't be replaced without breaking other stuff). I'm not very good with installing from source, even less if it's not working exactly how it is described in the "readme" file.

If somebody can give me some advice (or step by step instructions) on how to install Corebird on Trisquel 6.0.1, would help me a lot.

Thank you

Maybe you want to be an early adopter of the future Trisquel 7 Belenos, based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr: http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/

Will this early release update to the final version automatically? Or is it better to do a fresh install when that time comes?

I have not installed Trisquel 7. However I did that with a previous version and it updated automatically.

OK, I decided I'll have go as an early adopter for Trisquel 7...I don't know what this implies (if there are big issues to deal with...), but what the hell, I'll learn something new.

Thank you for the link to Trisquel 7, but can you give me some advice please on how can I upgrade from Trisquel 6.0.1 to Trisquel 7? I was looking in the manuals and there are instructions only for Installation (from scratch), Migrating from Ubuntu to Trisquel, or GnewSense to Trisquel....but no indications for UPGRADING from a Trisquel stable release (6.0.1) to Trisquel early release (7).

If I'll upgrade or Install Trisquel 7 over Trisquel 6.0.1, will I loose the Home, Pictures, Documents etc. folders? (I will make a backup, but I just want to know what to expect)

Thank you

Ps: I also need to have GRUB (I don't know if that matters)

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind if nothing else works.

You can install y7 over 6, keeping your home folder. In the disk choice part of the wizard, choose 'something else', then make sure you mount your existing root filesystem as '/', and allow the installer to format. Keep your existing swap space intact. Next, mount your existing '/home' as such, but make sure you do not allow the installer to format. Finally, be sure to choose the same username as you did in the first installation. When you boot the new system, your user data will be as they were in the old system.
