update notifier for kde plasma triskel

I'm using triskel kde plasma environment, but I don't seem to find an update notifier like mate has. Is there no such application on kde?
I've found some pages talking about a update-notifier-kde package but I couldn't find it on synaptic.

That update-notifier is a kde widget for Arch not debian based distributions. There is an application called plasma-discover, but it seems a little buggy and does not have a notifier widget for seeing latest updates.
Same situation here. I installed the packages "plasma-discover" and "plasma-discover-common" through the Synaptic package manager. Discover now reliably notifies me when new software updates are available.
I installed plasma-discover again with plasma-discover-common just now, but I don't understand how it notifies us. Did you add a widget to your panel?
I see a package called plasma-discover-backend-fwupd
The description says:
This package contains a backend for the firmware update daemon. Is there a firmware update daemon? Would that be a bug/freedom issue?
No, I didn't install "plasma-discover-backend-fwupd", I only installed the packages "plasma-discover" and "plasma-discover-common".
Also, I did not especially add a widget to my panel, at least not as far as I remember. But if I open the settings to the "system section" in the control panel, an item "Updates (German: Aktualisierungen)" appears. In my case this is set to "Show if important".
Also, in the system settings under "personal information", there is a section "Notifications (German: Benachrichtigungen)" where the Discover settings can be applied/changed.
