How do I keep youtube-dl up to date? Videos are not downloading, and
neither is Invidious working.

Trisquel 8 uses the version of youtube-dl from this PPA,[1] and it
appears to be behind the version that fixes the recent issue with
downloading YouTube videos. At tomorrow's Freedom Friday meeting I'm
going to suggest backporting a more recent version. We need version
2019.04.24 or later to fix the issue.
In the meantime, a workaround is to input the invidio.us link instead of
the youtube.com link, e.g.
$ youtube-dl https://www.invidio.us/watch?v=CHekNnySAfM
instead of
$ youtube-dl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHekNnySAfM

loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the
format is not supported." Right-clicking on the video and choosing
"View Video" leads to a blank, white page - no video file.
