Use battery 1 before battery 0?

I'm on a T400s with an extra battery in the ultra bay, i.e. instead of the dvd drive. The computer seems to be using the main battery (battery 0) first. When it is drained, the second battery (battery 1) takes over. Is there a way to a way to tell the computer to first use battery 1 and then battery 0? In that way I could have an extra fully charged battery in my bag and replace the drained battery from the ultra bay with the fully charged one, while the main battery would have taken over.

I'm not sure how libreboot handles UltraBay batteries but according to this wiki the stock BIOS actually first depletes the UltraBay battery before using the normal battery. You might find the settings you are after in the wiki as well.

This forum post discussed reversing the discharge order when using the stock BIOS.

Maybe this bug is relevant too?

Thanks.

According to the thinkwiki page my computer should/would do exactly what I wish. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I do not understand the bug report well enough go tell if it os the same or a related issue.

If I understand the threads correctly, the issue may have to do with settings in the bios. Do you think the issue should be resolved in Libreboot, in the Linux kernel or in the Trisquel OS?

Battery charging has to be defined in the BIOS since you want be able to discharge the battery when you access the BIOS settings on battery power alone. You can override the hardware settings directly from GNU/Linux using tp_smapi according to the wiki page I provided a link to.
