What do you think about calling free systems as "GNU" systems (even if there is no GNU or Linux-libre)?

fully compliant with the GNU Free System Distribution Guidelines).
Some free software activists from Brazil have been doing a
counter-campaign against society's tendency to call GNU+Linux just as
"Linux". Instead of calling the free distributions as "GNU+Linux",
they're calling them as "GNU [distribution/system]" only. Not everyone
has accepted this technique. I'm between the fences, as usual. But I
fear that the GNU-only proponentes do have a point when they say that
"the only way to approach society with more interest is to name the free
distributions only as GNU, because society seems to ignore everything
with the Linux name at a first sight". The only exception for this name
change is the non-GNU free system distributions like Replicant, which
continues to be named just as "Replicant".
However, this also opens doors for backfiring from open source
proponents (or even from our own mates, if we replace "operating system"
with "free system distribution" in the following two phrases), such as:
"Not every operating system has GNU packages available". However, we
could also reply with phrases like: "It must be noted that not every
operating system uses the Linux kernel".

I believe that we shouldn't do the same thing that was done to us. And by we, I meant the GNU and the FSF xD
What I mean is that Linux as a kernel and the open software community should be recognize for their contribution to the system as well.
At least that was my first reaction. But then I thought that, GNU represents better our ideals and principles, and there has passed so many years where the GNU protect hasn't been properly credited, that nobody should complain about us starting to call free software distros just GNU, and as you said, as a way to diffident them from other GNU/Linux distros.
But now that I think about it. The FSF has been working on a campain to educate people and distros, so that they do use GNU/Linux instead. If they back up from that now, they won't be able to keep asking people to educatedly refer distros for what they really are, GNU/Linux.
So what I would say is that I like what the FSF has been doing, and keep asking people to use the rightful and correct term GNU/Linux.
I believe the stubbornness from GNU and free software community is doing more harm then good.
I am more leaning for calling it just Linux because it is a lot better for marketing the operating system. Were the fight should be is difference between the mind send of free software and open source. That is my part.
I have soon been running Trisquel for two years and Im getting tiered of the fight against software that dont respect my freedom because their is no life there. I see my self as a former computer geet that just lived computers. Its a comfortable bubble to live in because I didnt live life. GNU/FSF/free software movement lives in the same bubble. Many free software sites is nerdy simple, stuck in the 90s. They work great for a computer geek mind but not for the rest of humanities thinking. This is also the difference between open source and free software. Their is A LOT MORE life in open source communities and distros but in free software its a computer geek world that limits its own potential.
I think this is why free software is so small.
It's like FSF is standing on a tiny island out alone in the ocean and say "WE ARE FREE" but their is nothing to do. Just eat, shit and sleep.
Free software is taking stands against open source, it's a fight. Why not try to compromise and cooporate? I have ideas but RMS and the free software wouldnt like it but it is at least based on a 100% libre base of GNU/Linux and then informs the user that maybe some hardware needs proprietary software to work and then the user choose to. User dont use wifi=wifi drivers dont needs to be installed. Same with software. If user search for Skype alternatives comes up first. This was a very simple explanation from me. I have it more thought out.
This was just a rant from me that I have been thinking of for some time.
I never disagreed more with a post on a Triskello forum. I don't think it would be necessary to answer all the points of yours. I'd only like to answer one point though->
>I think this is why free software is so small.
This is where you got it totally wrong. See, the reason why it is so small is that very few people place ethics before all the rest.
Here's what FSF thinks about this proposition
I have listened several times to Richard Stallman calling for
the use of "GNU with Linux" (GNU/Linux).
Still, for some time I went into thinking this - We don't say
Android/Linux, do we? So why should we say GNU/Linux instead of just
GNU?
And then, I had the occasion to execute GNU with the Hurd
kernel. So it was clear that the GNU OS can run with either the Linux
or Hurd kernel. GNU/Linux and GNU/Hurd. And I have heard that
ArchLinux can even run with a third one, the kernel from FreeBSD.
So I think that GNU/Linux is fine.

I agree that it's not good to call the whole operating system "linux", but I'm not content at all with "gnu/linux".
"Gnu/linux" is a horrible name for an operating system, and i think something should be done about it.
Obviously a perfect solution does not exist. Either Linux does not get credit, or Gnu does not get credit, or we have to stick with a shitty name.
I think just sticking with "Gnu" would be ok...
Most of GNU+Linux users, think that they using Linux operating system. I agree with you, and I love call Richard's OS as is: "GNU". But GNU+Linux users don't know what is GNU.
GNU alone is not right because it contradicts what RMS has been tellin the world all along. It's GNU plus Linux. A totally different situation arises if the GNU kernel is ever finished and polished to be useful and stable or if they (the GNU project) come up with another kernel of their own. Until that happens, let's keep it the way it is.
I'm OK with using, for comfort and brevity, Linux when it is first explained in detail and made clear in the context that GNU/Linux will be referred to as 'Linux' in a given document. You don't have to repeate the GNU/Linux epithet every occurrence, each line or paragraph.
I'm also OK with using GNU/Linux only when talking about truly free libre distributions because that's what is has come to these days. The difference is in the name, implied. An FSF endorsed distro should be required to use the full name when appropriate and called for to distinguish between any distro and a libre distribution with the libre kernel.
Android has nothing to do with GNU.
GNU+Linux
Oh man! Where did you get this! It's so cool! I want the hight quality one as a wallpaper. :D
I put in Duckduckgo and google: "richard stallman windows", and searched in images.
That wouldn't be fair to Linus Torvalds.
And coming from the same people who want to give the GNU Project their due.....that'd make us look like arses.
(My $.02)
I'm "cross-posting" this to trisquel-users and libreplanet-discuss mailling lists.
So, I made a "counting" on the opinions/votes so far, here is the table:

lembas, in the English forum of the Trisquel project, refered to a page where the FSF explains why we mustn't call GNU+Linux systems (in general) as "GNU" only:
https://www.gnu.org/gnu/gnu-linux-faq.html#justgnu
Besides, as an addendum from me, the same page explains why we mustn't reserve "GNU+Linux" (or "GNU/Linux") for the free system distributions:
https://www.gnu.org/gnu/gnu-linux-faq.html#reserve
To sum it up, vita_cell, in the English forum of the Trisquel project, gave us the result so far in really funny way (he notes that he found the image on the Internet):
