Hey,

I finally installed Trisquel GNU/Linux on my main machine and I encountered a rather ugly font in my gnome-terminal. So I installed the Ubuntu fonts and configured them. But I don't really want to use it. :-)

What terminal fonts do you use? Can you suggest some (especially the ones you use).

Thanks!

I use the default in Konsole, which is DejaVu Sans Mono (and "Monospace" is an alias for it)

I use the default font (I don't consider it to be ugly), but one you could try is Droid Sans Mono.

OK, Droid Sans looks much better. Not perfect yet, but better. :D I don't like fonts where symbols like @ and $ look squashed and bold.

I tried to set the hinting in the gnome-tweak-tool to full, but that didn't look that good either.

I guess I have to get used to those fonts. :-) If you have another suggestions for terminal fonts, I'd like to hear them!

Found it! I just found a website I was searching for with nice fonts. Have a look: http://vim.wikia.com/wiki/The_perfect_programming_font

Light hinting is usually the best hinting.

Make sure to avoid non-free fonts…

I tried some fonts and different hinting settings and I'm now using DejaVu Mono 11pt. Perhaps I'll switch and try others as well. There are so many great fonts available!

And of course, I'll only use Free Fonts. :-)

Thanks. I tried it but this one's too cornered for my taste.

I love Fantasque Sans Mono (SIL Open Font License). It's one of the first things I download for a fresh install. However it's quite different in style from most monospace fonts, so you may differ in your opinion.

Latin Modern Sans. I think it's in the lmodern package. Never got it to work pre-Belenos, though.

Sans? Is there a monospace variant? If not, it's rather a font for LibeOffice, but for a terminal?

Yes, and with serifs.

And it's good enough that you might use that mono version with documents as well (that is, if the proper non-monospace version were non-existant). You'd be forgiven for thinking it isn't a monospace font.

Can be seen used with Leafpad in http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/8c/Shot-2014-12-22_20-47-54.png/1024px-Shot-2014-12-22_20-47-54.png
