I'm coming into some money soon and looking to upgrade my desktop computer for development. It doesn't have to be anything fancy since I won't be playing like Battlefield 4 on it and I can go with either AMD or Intel based on recommendation. I just want to run Coreboot to respect my freedom.

When looking at the Coreboot list at http://www.coreboot.org/Supported_Motherboards#Motherboards_supported_in_coreboot_v4 I saw a lot of motherboards that supported the AMD FX series and was wondering if this CPU via http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284 was good and worked well with those motherboards. Of course this is the FX series (which motherboards list) and I want to make sure the motherboard is still being made.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Gah, the link is borked as usual. Go to http://www.coreboot.org/Supported_Motherboards and scroll down to coreboot v4 support.

The M5A88-V EVO at http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A88V_EVO/ seems to be powerful with a lot of features, but is expensive.
