Been using many GNU/linux distros and Trisquel mini seems to be a good one to try on my Samsung NC10+ netbook. However, it doesn't recognise the wi-fi card, though other distros do, which is a Broadcom BCM4313 802.11bgn adaptor. It says "device not ready (firmware missing)" - can anyone help please? Thank you.

You could try to install the openfwwf package. It may work but I wonder if it will. If it does, great!

If it does not, the reason is that it requires proprietary software in order to function. (That also explains why it works with other distros, as you say, because they commonly include such proprietary junk.)

A solution is to replace it: Either with another internal card or with one of those little USB WiFi nubs. They're about the size of a thumbnail. http://www.fsf.org/ryf has details on the USB WiFi nubs.

Many thanks, I can see the built-in card wont work with Trisquel. I have a spare wi-fi dongle which does work and allows me to connect.

Openfwwf I believe is installed by default and its documentation states that is supports

* BCM4306
* BCM4311 revision 1
* BCM4318
* BCM4320

so I guess it's time to get another piece of hardware. This one isn't compatible with freedom.
