I am trying to get a Intel Motherboard with integrated video that will be fully supported and be able to play 3D video games with a completely Free Software Driver. For example, I want to be able to play Nexuiz smoothly without turning the graphic quality way down like I have to do with my current Intel Motherboard that is running on a Pentium 3 Processor. I do not see anything on this page that tells me what type of graphic chip-set this board is using. Please tell me if this board is supported and if not what modern Intel board with more or less the same features is. Thank GNU.

I looked it up on newegg.com, and it says that that board doesn't have an onboard video chipset. You can take a look at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121394&Tpk=BOXDH55TC.

Anyhow, I think that any board with an Intel integrated video chipset up to and including the 4500's (GMA X4500, GMA X4500HD, and GMA 4500MHD) should work perfectly in Trisquel. But not the GMA 500, which apparently comes after the 4500's, even though the number is smaller, confusingly. There's a pretty good summary of the situation at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA#Linux.

Thank you, and I have seen this with Motherboards before. But I am confused. Why do some Motherboards have VGA, DVI, and HDMI outputs integrated into the board, without video chip-sets? I just found another one like that on NewEgg. Do they do anything at all? Thank GNU.

I think it is always a good idea to check the hardware manufacturer's site for specifications. Here is Intel's page concerning the DH55TC motherboard: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=42408

This board has some new Intel's technology called "Flexible Display Interface" (FDI) which allows the use of a CPU with integrated graphics. That means you won't have any graphics without such a CPU or a discrete graphics card. You can check the following page for CPUs compatible with the DH55TC motherboard and see which have integrated graphics: http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?BoardName=DH55TC

I have no idea whatever Trisquel would run with such a CPU or how the video acceleration would compare with any of the GPUs integrated into motherboards - I also would like to know.
