x220 max ram?

Hi, does anyone know how much RAM does the i5-2520M take? It comes with 8GB. The thing is, I have some other laptops from that era, for instance one with a i5-2410M came with 8GB and was listed as max 8GB, but I was able to find 2 8GB ram sticks and it works fine in 16GB, and now with the new thermal paste the CPU is no longer screeching in overheat and it's reasonably silent with an SSD.
Do you think I can achieve the same result with a x220? If so, what is the best ram to get it to 16GB? And with new thermal paste the CPU will be silent? Thanks
From Intel:
Intel Core i5-2520M Processor
3M Cache, up to 3.20 GHz
Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type): 16 GB

@icarolongo - You literally personally just spent six months running a Troll Lounge thread about a meme you created in which you categorized Libreboot as malware, and now here you are promoting different sellers to purchase Librebooted computers from.
Either you are engaging in rank hypocrisy, OR you were trolling and laughing at all the people who believe that Libreboot is malware.
I didn't find laptops for sale with Canoeboot.
I'm just showing that there are laptops for sale that support the amount of memory.
That is peculiar, did he actually do that in the troll lounge?
I looked at the meme software vs libre software and I didn't see him classify it as malware, just non-free from what I could see.
My main problem with Libreboot is its name, which somehow hides that it actually includes non-free software. That said, it has a very clear benefit for Trisquel users: it allows replacing the WLAN card with a WLAN card that works with entirely free software. USB dongles from Thinkpenguin are nice but they only can do 2.4 GHz, and at my place in a very dense urban area, the throughput tends to be rather low, while it works much better with a WLAN card that supports 5 GHz (including one from Thinkpenguin).
Seconded. I love Libreboot, I use it myself and to be honest I even understand the rational behind including some limited amount of non-free software. However, given the fact that it's no longer 100% free software it desperately needs a rebrand.
