Yet another legacy typewriter and gaming console

I saw someone selling a disused ThinkPad X41 with dock, so I purchased it without any hesitation.

There is no optical drive in the dock, but I happen to have one optical drive and one hard disk tray with IDE interface.

The hard disk has lots of bad tracks, but I happen to have one CF card and one CF to 1.8-inch IDE converter card.

The wireless NIC is unusable, but I happen to have one mini-PCI Atheros AR5004 card approved by the BIOS.

By putting all these together, this X41 gets reborn.
