problems with trisquel gtk and icon themes in etiona/mate

Some icons aren't sized correctly, and others don't show up on the panel (including nm-applet). Sometimes "File Edit View..." are all squished together. See screenshot.

The icon theme has different problems in the xfce panel. Some show up light and others dark.

The Trisquel theme also causes these buttons to be unreadable in both Midori and Epiphany.

The main issue here is that GTK has gone up to 3.22 from 3.18 and there were big changes to the theme CSS at 3.20. There were big changes required on various default / custom / MATE themes at that time to fix them.

trisquel-gtk-theme should be working with https://devel.trisquel.info/trisquel/trisquel-packages/merge_requests/12 which is now merged.

I haven't touched the icon theme. I mainly see issues with an overly large desktop icon (which I think is customized with the Trisquel logo) when a GTK file chooser dialog is used by an app.

Trisquel 8.0 support ended in April 2021.
Please open a new issue in case it remains on the current supported release.
