Beschreibung

Here are some clearly unnecessary applications in our main repository in the Add/Remove Applications program. They should be removed.:

*Various add-ons for Mozilla software. We have our own repository already.
*Mozilla Thunderbird. We at least need to replace this with Debian's rebranded version.
*Edubuntu educational bundles. Trisquel Edu organizes its applications differently from Edubuntu.

As for Thunderbird I hope it is not removed from repos but rebranded if necessary, as I am very fond of this mail program -I think it is the only one which allows you to download only the headers of your new mail -.

Regards.

Indeed, we should just put the Debian rebranding in our repos. We'd lose nothing by doing it that way.

Updating to version 5.0. Do we still want to rebrand thunderbird?

Changing title since some of these issues may still be relevant but version 3.5 is depreciated.

I use some Thunderbird addons from the repo, our addon list has only Firefox addons so these are useful (they are more needed in Debian since it supports architectures that aren't supported by the addons on the official list, this probably isn't significant here).

I agree that we need to rebrand Thunderbird and change its addon list to one listing only free Thunderbird addons. (Parabola uses IceDove with IceCat addons, this has the problem of listing Firefox addons and not Thunderbird addons; it's also much older than Thunderbird we have.)

Marking this as duplicate. There are no real reasons to "remove" packages even if they are extra. The thunderbird issue has been specifically reported here:

rebranding thunderbird as icedove
