¿its possible make studio recordings with Trisquel?
one week back of today or two maybe, one friend in your home studio, ask me the same question.
- how to make a records with linux(and i tell him not exits linux, linux its just one part, the complete system is gnu/linux)
so, i do not try make recordings with trisquel but its possible?
until what level?
because i know of musix but not get notices of them
Take a look at these digital audio workstations - both are libre.
LMMS - https://lmms.io/
Ardour - https://ardour.org/
Both are very feature-filled and have large, helpful communities.

Ardour is great. specially when you are connected to instruments and recording or editing sound waves that you are creating.
My dad has a great collection of old jazz LP'S AND CASSETTE TRACKS, that I did record from into a digital format, using ARdour. It was long and lot of consuming time, because I end buying a LP player and duaL DECK cassete player, once I connected the equipment and Spending around 500 dollars, the interface to a i-5 desktop works good. i USE A FIBER SOUND CARD FOR BETTER DIGITIZING SOUND,
about LMMS, i CANT say I use it.
AUDACITY
My favorite one and THE latest one IS AUDACITY, WORKS AWESOME AND SPLENDID, HAS A LOT OF PLUGGING AND YOU COULD RECORD THE SOUNDWAVES directly from YOUTUBE USING A pc AND CONVERT IT FROM MP-3, WAV, AIFF, CAF, BWF, FLAC, Ogg/Vorbis.
Is best you read, and decide what you want to use it for.
They are all free and under GPL LICENSE.
Yes, it is possible to record and edit under trisquel.
and i ever think what libre-software in a recording production has a different sound
you know about this?
Is it possible to differentiate itself from the rest with a software-libre sound?
Well,, the closest answer is in the quality, compression, and speed rate of what you are recording.. Yes sound waves can be manipulated. example: FROM MP-3, WAV, AIFF, CAF, BWF, FLAC, Ogg/Vorbis.
I hope that you understand me. another example: high definition sounds waves recording occupies more memory in the hard drive, sata or usb device is not as filming, but just audio. you have to read the help files in audio conversion you are making withing each program and search in the internet for more details.
Greetings everyone,
I want to offer a helpful request to the Trisquel developers (and all GNU distro developers), but not sure where to post it.
My end-user experience has me wishing for this to be implemented:
Please have Installation scripts run on the display screen for the end user to view the commands and procedures.
Learning the OS is a IMPORTANT opportunity and this will assist in that.
At minimum show the prcedure that will be executed with the major commands to be used as a static illustrative image.
The installation is (in my opinion) the first and the most important task for the end user that may be new converts to the free source community.
Thanks for all your wonderful efforts, cheers!
coming soon im make some recording, but i don't be a engineer only i have made songs on my home for some 7 years and now i don't made more. I have not done more because I used proprietary software in the past. is it a one thing more for make libre-music.
thanks
Ronmamita:
If I remember correctly there is a terminal in the installer where you can see everything that is happening.
Though, it goes so fast you might not even be able to read it.
If you really want this kind of behavior you might as well go with parabola to really learn. Trisquel is not meant for users trying to learn the insights of GNU/Linux but for home and business users who want a system easy to use and that just works.
Parabola in the other side is completely commands and procedures.
This is what I achieved with proprietary software without being an engineer

but the format and hosting are libre software
Saravia:
1.- Congratulations... I am proud of you..
2.- You can take a look at Musix or Ubuntu Studio most of the software, if not all, that is installed there is also in the Trisquel repos so you can install it with apt-get.
However, I suggest going with parabola for most up to date software. This type of software is constantly improving. And for someone used to proprietary is better to go with the best.
