5.5 System changes
There are several features which have been removed which beg questions.
#1 - Why is the main menu white now? It was AWESOME being dark.
#2 - Why did the shutdown dialog change? It looks generic now and was also an AWESOME feature of 5.0.
#3 - Why (in the world) is there no input box on the keyboard options to test the repeat rate, delay until repeat, and input box flashing cursor speed? (Seriously?)
#4 - And many, many more.
What happened with this version? Are you trying to get me involved to write these software changes for the next release? :-)
I do like the speed and stability. 5.0 would sometimes ghost rectangles on my desktop when clicking menus, etc. This version seems to have fixed that. Still, lots of changes that don't seem productive. Is it because of GNOME 3?

Can somebody help me on getting started? I don't know enough to even know where to begin, but I'd like to work on coding options into the fallback session, and creating a version of the trisquel start menu that worked like 5.0, along with the shutdown dialog. I'd also like to tweak some of the system settings options, which are completely generic.
5.0 had such a nice feel to it. 5.5 seems to be a notable step back in outward appearance, though stability seems greatly improved.
5.5 needs some finesse. I'm willing to code some for it, but I need some help getting started.

I'm not a Trisquel developer, but I think figuring out how and what exactly needs to be done, and where to start from is the majority of the work. It's not only about writing code, but understanding how things work – things like configuration files, software packaging, conventions, standards and other.
It's not simple for someone to tell you how to get started, so you probably won't receive the answer you'd expect.

I believe also that the ubuntu release system has to do with this as every fourth release is a LTS (long term support) version. Those will likely work and look better than the ones in between. This system is also in Trisquel and 6.0 will be a LTS unlike 5.5.

Thats why I'm sticking with 4.0 until Ruben learns to tweak Gnome 3 more and hopefully 6.0 will be more like the 5.0 and earlier.
