8400gs graphic cards comes in many brands, memory sizes and port editions.
If the chipset is 8400gs then free software will enable all functions on the graphic card?

That nVidia card is among the ones that Linux-libre supports the best (almost on par with the performances provided by the proprietary driver). I believe this is true for all three revisions of that card.

In terms of features, it is in the NV50 family and you can see here what "nouveau" (the free software driver in Linux-libre) supports: https://wiki.freedesktop.org/nouveau/FeatureMatrix/

Notice that the card does not provide any "video decoding acceleration" (contrary to an Intel graphical chipset). The CPU must take care of that.

If you're looking to buy one I definitely recommend this:

I personally have one in my desktop and it works beautifully out of the box with 100% libre drivers. 3D acceleration too!

I know I should get the card from thinkpenguin. But I am too cheap and looking for other offers. That is why I want to know if any 8400gs chipset card goes.
