Well hopefully this will push people away from proprietary software. Some of the ideas coming out of companies like Apple and Microsoft are very dangerous. UDIDs, DRM, and restricted boot to name a few others.

I get the feeling that governments will start relying on technologies and ban devices that don't have backdoors in them. Terrorism, cyberterrorism and stopping hackers will be the excuse.
