Hello,
I've had this issue before, I couldn't seem to get mullvad installed on my X60 and months later, finally revisiting this issue. I probably am not that tech inclined to install it, although god knows I've tried, so does anyone suggest an alternative to someone very new to all of this ? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I have mullvad on my T530 running Debian and on my X220 running mint, but for some reason I can't figure out how to get it installed on my X60, and this has been the main reason why I haven't been using this machine as my go to machine and I feel its my last hurdle to actually using this wonderful little machine that I'm so proud to have.
Thanks

Are you really sure it's computer model (hardware) related issue?

Have you tried openvpn?

I don't know about mullvad, but I use a free proton vpn, downloaded a server config (udp) and connect via openvpn command:

sudo openvpn servercfg.ovpn

Unfortunately I couldn't set it up with network manager on trisquel. The VPN connects, but does not resolve webpages. But through the terminal it runs ok. I made myself a little script to start and stop it and placed an icon on desktop, so I don't have open a terminal to start vpn every time.

I want to test proton vpn on debian
10. Would you write a tutorial? You do not
install software other than packages in
the repository?

https://github.com/ProtonVPN/linux-cli
I would rather avoid inatalling this piece of
software. I do not know if this is one of
those programs which do not tell how to
uninstall the program again. All the
required packages are in the
repository.

install
network-manager-openvpn network-manager-openvpn-gnome
openvpn resolvconf
I do not know if all are required.

https://account.protonvpn.com/signup
get a protonvpn account. Or protonmail
account.

Log in on your protonvpn account. Select downloads ->
gnulinux -> server configs
Download configuration files you want to
utilize.

On your gnulinux system left click
network manager. vpn connections -> configure
vpn -> import saved vpn configuration. Import the
ovpn file. Enter protonvpn username and
psswrd. Start protonvpn selecting left
click network manager -> vpn connections.

install
network-manager-openvpn network-manager-openvpn-gnome
openvpn resolvconf
I do not know if all are required.

Only installing "network-manager-openvpn-gnome" will actually install the other packages, as dependencies.

How about installing it on your router? Mullvad support gave me a reply and this link. This might solve your problem. I could not make it because I forget the password of the router but you might be able to make it. Good luck.

PS: Because I have mistaken them, so I say just to make sure, though. A router is not a server.

Have you upgraded to a newer kernel via -
https://jxself.org/linux-libre

I know Mullvad requires a newer kernel than what Trisquel ships by default.

In that case, perhaps it will work better on Etiona (Trisquel 9)? You could try installing a dual boot of Etiona on your X60 and see how that works for you.
