I am using Searx.me as my standard search (meta) engine. There are some possibilities for configuration, but I don't use them - primarily out of insecurity about how that would affect my privacy.

SuperTramp83 suggest using it without js (https://trisquel.info/en/forum/duckduckgo-ups-ante-gives-300k-%E2%80%98raise-standard-trust?page=1#comment-111197). I use NoScript and haven't 'allowed' searx.me. Is this clever or not? How can I tale the most advantage of searx without compromising privacy?

It's not that I recommend using that website or any website in particular without proprietary javascript. I recommend disabling all proprietary javascript on all websites all along. Proprietary javascript is a huge problem both because it is proprietary software you execute in your browser, on your computer and because it is unsafe, it can hurt both your freedom, your privacy and security. Most crossplatform browser exploits rely heavily on javascript to do their nasty job.

Use it without js. It works as good (almost).

Also, the beauty of searx being libre is you can use any of the many public instances of it, you can even set one on your own or have a trusted friend do that.
