sudo apt-get install gtk2.0-dev

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Note, selecting 'libgtk2.0-dev' for regex 'gtk2.0-dev'
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libgtk2.0-dev : Depends: libpango1.0-dev (>= 1.20) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libcairo2-dev (>= 1.6.4-6.1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

This bugs seems to be inherited from ubuntu, so it should not be in gnewsense.
Therefore I try to build my packages in a gnewsense chroot instead.

A couple of us are encountering this problem. It's bad because you need gtk dev to compile lots of code. I managed to fiddle with Synaptic to quickfix it. I hope it can be fixed once and for all 6.0.1 users in the future, but until then, please try my solution here: https://trisquel.info/en/forum/versioning-problems-apt-get-build-dep-sylpheed#comment-57193
