clementine was working out of the box on trisquel 10.

on trisquel 11 i can't start it.

the terminal-output is:

Have you tried moving/renaming the Clementine's configuration (probably in "~/.config": the hidden directory named ".config" in your home folder) and local data (probably in "~/.local/share")?

THANKS
yes, i have already tried that. no success.
it is a completely new installation/clean. so clementine has never been started...

Hello,

Since you did not mention this, I'd like to ask,

  • are you using Mate, KDE, LXDE?
  • is this a new install using the latest 11.0.1 ISOs?
    • maybe using the netinstall?
  • are you using the default Trisquel package selection?
  • have you noticed some other weird behavior leading to think on some hardware issue?

Some other Trisquel user had an issue of missing features but it was the case that the installation was incomplete, installing the Trisquel meta-packages got everything working.

I just installed on a brand new machine starting this week (Mate) and Clementine is my go-to music player every time, and I'm happy to report that all is working as it should.
So the difference in behavior makes me wonder on the reason we have different outcomes.

THANKS

here is the missing information:
- MATE
- completely new installation with the latest ISO Trisquel 11.0.1 LTS Aramo from the website
- no changes to the package sources or the package selection, except update to the latest kernel because of a graphics problem
- home encrypted with ecryptfs

apart from this issue here i have an unresolved issue with the graphics card: https://trisquel.info/de/forum/display-resolution-under-trisquel-11

it is also noticeable that i can't change the time and date settings with the GUI. it works with sudo in the terminal. but that doesn't bother me any further.

as i said: before the reinstallation, i used trisquel 10 on this device. everything worked perfectly.

Could you describe the steps you used to install clementine?

I start to think what could be the issue at hand, as it sounds like a missing dependency.

Maybe the steps on how it was installed could help us find the issue behind the possible missing dependency.

Well, I might be wrong, but I think that maybe there is a missing dependency there, please try:

sudo apt install libqt5sql5-sqlite

Followed by;
sudo apt install --reinstall clementine

And check if that solves your issue.

Regards.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! thank you so much for your great help!

yes, that was the missing dependency...

now i just hope that my other problem with the display resolution can be solved and then i'll be HAPPY with TRISQUEL 11!
