configuring touchpad fully

Greetings,

I'm trying to get my laptop touchpad sorted. I want to assign a function to three finger taps, as is doable under KDE.
I have gsynaptics installed but it doesn't offer options for such functionality. Further, xorg.conf has no section for the touchpad. Where is the configuration kept these days?

Also, is it possible to permanently disable Caps Lock? I can't find anything in the keyboard section, so I'm presuming it can be done via a config file?

many thanks

Dunno if it's the official way but you can control touchpad behavior with synclient. Read the synaptics man page to see how it works.

I'm sure it's possible to disable Caps Lock but don't ask me how. Some custom keymap or something.

Caps Lock is doable via the GUI after all.
There's an Options button in the keyboard layout section where such things can be controlled.

All I need is to set three finger taps to equate to middle mouse button click and I'm sorted.
