I was wondering why a lot of GNU/Linux distros use Ubuntu and not Debian as a base.
Aren't they the same thing? The only big difference is that Ubuntu is maintained by a company while Debian is maintained by the community and that Ubuntu recommends proprietary software and does not separates clearly free and proprietary software.
