Oh!

I/O errors give me some bad feeling that a hardware issue might be close to manifest.
Hopefully that's not the case, you might like to clean the cache and try again.

sudo apt clean ; sudo apt update ; sudo apt dist-upgrade

aptitude might also provide a great experience, to resolve complex dependencies.

Could it be that the root partition is full?

Maybe check with

df -h

So, did you cleaned the apt cache and tried a second time?

Maybe the I/O error could be from a corrupted .deb package, are you on a broken state?

Yeah, I tried also repairing broken packages that displayed from
aptitude, after some time displayed 90% and the same error, after some
time and more not working methods I reinstalled Trisquel.
