Empathy sound notifications not working

I am using Empathy for voice calls and chats. Today, all of a sudden Empathy stopped sound notifications! I no longer hear it ringing when there's an incoming call. And there is no sound when there's an incoming message either. I checked Edit > Prefereces > Sound and nothing has changed.

And there is no place to configure sound notifications for incomig calls. How should I get this fixed? Thanks loads for any help you can offer.

(I'm using Trisquel 6 btw)

When you disable the system's sound effects, this also disables the Empathy's sound alerts.

Go to the volume control icon on your desktop panel. Click on select "Sound Settings...". There go to the "Sound Effects" tab and make sure the alert volume is 100% and "ON".

Thanks very much! Problem solved! :)

I had my sound effect volume almost muted.
