Epson Perfection 2400 scanner loses its drivers in Trisquel_9

Previously was working OK in Trisquel_8, but I'm having to use Konqueror in Trisquel_9
because Abrowser doesn't work with my tax preparer's portal software.

I found a link to files to download from Epson's site, but the installer runs into issues:
iscan-bundle-2.30.4.x64.deb.tar.gz~/Downloads$ ./
Ign:1 bionic InRelease
Hit:2 etiona InRelease
Hit:3 etiona-security InRelease
Hit:4 etiona-updates InRelease
Err:5 bionic Release
404 Not Found [IP: 80]
Reading package lists... Done
E: The repository ' bionic Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.
The manpage doesn't offer me much in the way of options.
My workaround has to be to scan all the necessary files in Trisquel_8 and then reboot in
Trisquel_9 in order to transmit them with the portal.

Since your scanner once worked under Trisquel 8, then it doesn't require non-free firmware to function (if you didn't manually install the firmware), and therefore you probably needn't to try to download and install any "driver".

Install simple-scan (the default scanning program for Gnome) and see whether it recognizes your scanner.

Thanks to nadebula.1984, simple-scan controls the Epson Perfection 2400
just fine, and the output is a .pdf file exactly as needed.
