fails to download repository...
Just when I thought it was all fixed, they drag me back in.
Thinkpad X200 & X230, trisquelgnulinux, 64 bit, 9 Etiona.
When the computer(s) is powered up, the first thing I click is the software updater. It will always say 'failed to download repository information.'Even though it's online as the pop up always shows. This can only be fixed by starting a browser then the software updater decides to work.
Both machines are fully up to date as far as I know. I think this started in the summer after an update. (?) For manual & automatic update settings.
Even though the updater can be eventually started, it's annoying.
Is this a bug or some sort of feature ?

Unfortunately the dialog box you've shared doesn't say much beyond that there's a failure. The details about the nature of the failure isn't displayed, and such would be helpful in being able to move forward. So: Let's give up on doing it the GUI way. What if the first thing you do is not to "click is the software updater" but instead the first thing is "open the MATE Terminal and type sudo apt update" instead. While not likely to be a completely solution being able to see the output of the package manager should be helpful to at least start pointing in some direction.
All pakages are ok. The terminal was fast.
And this was done right after the computers are powered up where you normally would have received that message from the GUI?
