A free and gratis (gratis software wise, I am willing to spend for hardware) way of email communicating.

There are so much ways to communicate and I have no idea which forms can communicate with another form.

You have regular email adresses, XMPP, JMP, IRC etc etc etc.

I am simple man, I want to have en email address, send and receive emails, and using so with free and gratis software. That means no use of javascript also.

Hosting my own email server is not an option atm because that means I must pay some random firm for a domain. Unless of course there are simple ways of becoming a DNS registrar myself.

Are there any possibilities? I am super confused regarding all the different messaging instances.

Not everything of the form name@domain is an email address. You can't send and XMPP message to an email address or vice versa. In order to send both emails and XMPP messages you'll need both an email address and an XMPP address.

However, if you want your XMPP and email addresses to look the same you could go with a provider who does both, such as dismail.de[1] Their services are gratis, funded by donations.

I would like to host my own email server, but I'm afraid of my domain getting blacklisted. And yes, you'll have to pay for your domain name.

As long as your provider supports IMAP or POP3 you should not have to use proprietary software. Just use a libre mail client.

Javascript is needed for both of them unfortunately :/

That is I was able to create an XMPP account at dismail.de without JS, but not at disroot.org.

And neither offers email registration without JS.

But anyway thank you for the suggestions!

And now I have an XMPP account :)

The *webmail* at dismail.de requires JS, but since they support IMAP you can just use a mail client and avoid the webmail.

From their registration page:

"Your email account is disabled by default. Please send a message with your xmpp client or the webchat to name at domain and ask for email activation (you need to use your dismail.de account). Please don't expect an immediate answer."

It sounds like you can use Gajim/Pidgin/etc to send them a message from your new XMPP account asking them to activate your email account. Once they do, you should be able to access your email account from Evolution/Icedove/etc.

That's annoying, but it sounds like something you would only have to do once in order to set your password. It won't become part of your computing. Personally I don't so much mind a one-time use of JS if it will increase my freedom overall. Up to you though.

I'm pretty sure you can make an account with Lavabit and set your password without JS, but it isn't gratis.
