Gerico
Good evening, I'm a new Trisquel user
I have a question: for my job I need a program easily available through the site of Italian direct taxes and it works on all platforms, even on linux through a script. The program is called Gerico, and it's necessary for the "Sector studies", for the purpose of calculation of taxes. It doesn't change in any way the system and it's fully installed in /opt. I would be happy to install Trisquel also on other machines in the offices of my friends, but how should I consider this program? It is reasonable or should I consider it closed and possibly think about a different distro? If the program is Libre then I would say go ahead! If not I would look for another program that can also get the job done. However I know that isn't always an option if the reason for using the software in the first place is a requirement for your employment.
Is it libre or closed? I do not know, no license is indicated on the site. But within the script there is a part with copyright, his extractor and then I will feel unwelcome. thanks tdlnx
I don't understand the writing on the page (which I assume is Italian), but all I see are links to binary executables, nothing that looks like source code. If there's no source code, it's not libre, no matter what the license is.

Grazie a tutti, in realtà è un megascript, manco un programma però mi sono accorto che c'è un estrattore coperto da copyright, quindi ho assunto che non è libre, e onpon4 mi ha dato una spiegazione che taglia la testa al toro: se non c'è il source code anche in mancanza di licenza non è libre. A questo punto lo disinstallo da Trisquel e lo utilizzerò solo nelle altre distribuzioni linux.

Per me..va bene.. Io l'inglese lo mastico quasi come l'italiano però credo che una sezione in italiano sarebbe molto utile ai nuovi arrivati. Potrebbe essere un incentivo ad accettare la comunità e il software/SO che questa appoggia. Era Fabio mi sembra a proporre questo e so che aveva chiesto a Ruben (sviluppatore capo di T.) pero non so dove ne se il processo si sia fermato..

Ehm, visto che per me la cosa è risolta devo chiedere che venga segnato come risolto dall'admin oppure non è necessario? Scusate se lo chiedo ma ogni forum ha i suoi metodi.
