I'm actually surprised it hasn't been done by somebody though.
I'm not against the database's existence. It has its uses. I just don't think we should be pointing or giving people the impression that this is how you buy hardware for GNU/Linux. It's just not an answer for the majority. A nice solid and reliable list is how you go about it. Right now I think that list would have one company on it. I think it would be worthwhile to encourage OTHERS to participate.
Actually. There might be two. Although one isn't computer hardware. It's the first certified 'hardware' by the FSF though. It's that 3d printer of sorts.
