Is there a method to upvote this twice a day, all year round?
I would like to add that, in my case, switching from Ubuntu to Trisquel 7 came with an awakening: everything was just working out of the box without a single bit of non-free software. This led me to question further the emollient narrative about convenience and to stop accepting compromises on software freedom where none is required.
I switched from MacOS to Trisquel 8. Since free software has a lot of choice, it took a while for me to identify the tools I like best, this is the drawback of choice :)
Some people say it may be difficult for users of Windows/MacOS to adopt Trisquel directly, rather than using Ubuntu or Mint first. I never really used Ubuntu or Mint, so I cannot judge. I installed Ubuntu on some old laptop, forgot it, and when I took it back, after update, the interface was completely changed, which made me give it up.

There is even more difference between those that are motivated
to use Debian instead of Ubuntu, and those that would really
like to use Trisquel instead of anything else.
Installing Trisquel now. I have been using
Debian for compatability reasons, but I suppose
that if I use Trisquel: I am upholding a
code of ethics.

I am having trouble booting/installing Trisquel 11 on this new Lenovo
Ideapad. There seems to be no legacy boot at all. And when I run the
install Trisquel installer does not detect my ath9k usb
none of the drivers in that boot menu installer work.
And the live boot never loads.
I may try tomorrow again.
If by any change you are using the netinstall, please pull the latest from:

Belated cheers to I ♥ Free Software Day! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I started by trying Ubuntu, for a second or two, then Mint, which I must admit was helpful as an introduction to GNU/Linux, but again, that lasted a minute or two... Very happy to be here now, for a century or two :)
a big shoutout of gratitude to Rubén and everyone else that works on Trisquel
Plus 1 to that, jxself!
