I'm mid-build of a computer and wonder if I'll have any problems with the hardware because I'm using trisquel. My older computer had Windows 7 and I ran Ubuntu on it - until it failed. I didn't have any hardware problems.

I'm buying everything from newegg.com:

Skip the AMD and go with an Intel motherboard. AMD is problematic with free software. The NVIDIA graphics card has the same problem.

You might want to go with: ASRock H77M LGA 1155 Intel H77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard (N82E16813157303)

Its $74 /w shipping from Newegg and has a high chance of working with Trisquel 6. It is in the same price range your looking at. I usually like to see ratings a little higher on the user satisfaction scale but this is probably good enough. I have a 90% rule where I like to see at least 90% of users saying they are at least satisfied. It's pretty good method of reducing the risk factor of defects/problems. I'd give this an 84% for user satisfaction.

If you want a graphics card that will work with Trisquel I'd suggest an 8 or 9 series card. The 9500GT is an ideal candidate. You can find one here:

http://libre.thinkpenguin.com/ (Trisquel gets 25% of the profits if you order one)

It is an older card although it works well with Trisquel because of the reverse engineered drivers (nouveau). Not a big fan of NVIDIA because they don't support free software. AMD is no better. What they did was a public relations stunt or might as well have been one. They released a driver wrapped around non-free code. It's never going to work with Trisquel.

You should consider buying form ThinkPenguin. Unlike Newegg and pretty much everyone else, ThinkPenguin is the only seller who is dedicated on helping and supporting the free software movement.
