Help! No internet after update

Hello,

Since I installed updates for XML a few days ago, my cable connection stopped working on the next session. It's not the cable or the network device, because I am typing this on the same machine in windows. I also installed some update earlier, one called 'ifupdown' and another network-related update (I guess everyone got those?). I'm running Awen, although since I installed it, my computer seems to have subtle problems here and there.

Does anyone know what can be the problem with my internet-connection?
Thanks in advance!

Regards

Have you installed a new kernel release?

What's the output of lspci -nnk on your machine.

My connection works again, but I want to know if something is wrong, so here is the output anyway. Awen is recently also complaining about my battery malfunction because it's critically low (it shows 48%).Thanks!00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub [8086:27a0] (rev 03)

If it is a removed hardware driver, you should get your connection back by
booting with the previos kernel at startup.
