Hi.
It is available in the repository, you can easily install it.
$ sudo apt install xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I'm pretty sure it already is installed by default. However, it can only be used if the graphics card is supported. That excludes Maxwell- and (soon) Pascal-series NVIDIA graphics cards.
As said by Magic Banana, try a more recent kernel. But it won't give you support of Maxwell graphics cards in Trisquel (and other free system distributions), since it relies on proprietary signed firmware to work.
was previously installed systems ((
Also in Ubuntu (14 and 16) - it is heated, but in Mint and Debiant - okay
And try a more recent kernel: https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/update-linux-libre-kernel
Sorry, but I do not understand how to upgrade?
Installed Trisquel 7
