I am wondering how free this thing is as well, if the low level components are free and if it runs a free distro I might've found myself a replacement for my PC.
I asked lkcl on arm netbook. He said, the mali gpu source code is not available. About the rest of devices the source code is available. Lkcl said, reverse engineering the mail gpu would be about 150000eu.

Yes but, last time I checked for updates in the EOMA68 page (which was
around 6 months ago, so I don't know if there is improvement on this
Mali GPU issue), I was informed that, while the GPU is physically there
in EOMA68, it won't appear even for the operating system to use it in
the case of Libre Tea Computer Card (in this message, I'll refer to it
as "LTCC" for short), so things will be done by CPU instead. However,
this doesn't apply to all EOMA68. Also, only LTCC is the one seeking
RYF-certification, not EOMA68 entirely, so I can only recommend LTCC,
and ask you kindly to ignore the rest. :)
