Looks like Identica has had a major revamp, and not for the better. Seems like its been downgraded, that's sad.....

I always found Identica confusing, then again I find all "social" networking web sites confusing; confusing, stressful and hard work.

For logged users there is an old school option that serves the old
interface. There are also clients. Gwibber for example is in Trisquel.

I've never been to Identica before today and I must admit that it is a disorganized mess. Random posts with half of them in another language or symbols. I hate to say this, but if this is a Twitter or Facebook News Feed clone, then someone has to moderate this or else it has no legitimate future.

Not everyone speaks English.

Maybe there should be an option either via locale autodetect or a drop down menu to only show posts from within a certain language. Also, when I go to the https version of the main page, I keep getting an SSL certificate error because linuxfr.org:443 is an untrusted certificate.

You probably watched the public timeline - the index page. There are
users, groups, tags and conversations, that can be followed separately
with or without an account. These are pretty much your interests, the
things that you want to follow. Following the public timeline is like
listening to 100 radio stations at the same time, useless.

I forgot about using a client. Thats handy for people who like Identica and Twitter etc.... I suppose then you can ignore the web interface.

I'd agree with T3g, it does seem disorganised. Although I'm not a user of this kind of web site or service so wouldn't know how it should look.

I'm amazed how people have the time and energy to update their Facebook page, Tweet what they're doing and hangout on Google+ everyday.
I couldn't do it, good luck to those who can .... :)
