Install Ungoogled Chrome
Hi
I need to install ungoogled chromium updated version from safer way instead of using flatpak can I get .deb package from an official Github for trisquel (ubuntu).
I can see that below instructions from their Github
# echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/ungoogled_chromium/Debian_Sid/ /' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/home-ungoogled_chromium.list > /dev/null
# curl -s 'https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/ungoogled_chromium/Debian_Sid/Release.key' | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/home-ungoogled_chromium.gpg > /dev/null
# sudo apt update
# sudo apt install -y ungoogled-chromium
is using backports of opensuse is safer ?
Thank you
The debian builds have some severe issues right now and thus aren't being updated. Flathub is the safer option of the two at this time. Guix is another option that is kept up to date. I would go with either of those.
I used guix in trisquel but got version 89 it is not updating to 95 any idea. ?
I'm not sure, I think you have to run "guix pull". Have you tried Flatpak? It works very well. https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.github.Eloston.UngoogledChromium
using flatpak what version do you have of ungoogled chrome in trisquel ?:)
I have Version 89.0.4389.114 (Official Build, ungoogled-chromium) (64-bit)
I actually use Debian rather than Trisquel (which shouldn't matter for Flatpak), but the version of ungoogled-chromium that I have (through Flatpak) is 96.0.4664.45.
Yes now I have Version 96.0.4664.45 after doing guix pull.
Should I concerned binary blobs in previous versions of ungoogled chrome I had installed or does it include another updates.
No, there are no binary blobs in ungoogled-chromium.
Thanks for helping now I have an updated version using guix Version : 96.0.4664.45
Thank you once again.
Have you tried LibreWolf too? https://flathub.org/apps/details/io.gitlab.librewolf-community
