Installing Tracktion - Waveform 11
Hello,
I am trying to install an Digital Audio Workstation, Waveform 11, which is developed by Tracktion. You can see it here. https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free
My first question is basic - Is this software compatible with Trisquel?
My second question - I have tried installing and run into a dependency error using the package installer. Installing the package "waveform11" the status displays:
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: xjadeo.
The lintian output reads thus:
"E: waveform11: embedded-library usr/bin/Waveform11: libpng
W: waveform11: syntax-error-in-debian-changelog line 5 "badly formatted trailer line"
W: waveform11: syntax-error-in-debian-changelog line 5 "found eof where expected more change data or trailer"
W: waveform11: copyright-without-copyright-notice
W: waveform11: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/Waveform11
W: waveform11: desktop-entry-invalid-category AudioEditing usr/share/applications/waveform11.desktop
Lintian finished with exit status 1"
Is xjadeo another package I need to install?
This forum does not provide support for installing proprietary software. We consider it would not be helping you. Free software, all in Trisquel repository, that may be (or not) suitable to replace Waveform: Ardour, LMMS, MusE, Qtractor, Rosegarden.
Of course, that guideline slipped my memory. Thank you for the recommendations.
On the product page, I don't see any license information. But it says that Waveform Free has won the "2016 Freeware of the Year" award. Therefore the "free" probably means "gratis" here.
You can also try to see what packages are included in Debian's "multimedia" Pure Blend or Fedora's "jam" spin, and see whether there is any music-related package available in Trisquel's repository.
What about Audacity?
