Hi,

I recently installed Trisquel Mini 7. And i found out that my wireless card is using only proprietary drivers. I checked Intel's open source page and downloaded Intel Wifi Link 5100 drivers. But when i opened LICENSE* file, Intel is not released source code for this driver. Is there free software driver for this card? Or, i should buy another card?

Thanks in advance.

You should buy another card or a USB adapter. Some laptop brands artificially prevent you from swapping a Wifi card and have the substitute work. A Linux-libre compatible USB adapter will always work. The problem is to find a card/adapter that is Linux-libre compatible. What matters is the chipset but it is almost never reported on new products because manufacturers sometimes change it in a *same* model. You can buy at ThinkPenguin's or at Tehnoetic's and be sure it will work:

Besides those two vendors that are free-software friendly, you can try to acquire models that people have *recently* bought and are reported to work. For instance, I recently bought five of the following Wifi adapter (one for me, one for the laptop I give to my parents at gravmas, the rest for the future!): http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?categoryid=3958&model=TL-WN722N
