I set Replicant's configuration language to Japanese. Japanese language is displayed on the screen, but I cannot type in Japanese. I'm having trouble switching to Japanese in my address book, SMS, and email, etc. I can type only English.
I have emailed the Replicant team, but they have not responded.

I've tried various language-related settings. It seems that I cannot select Japanese in the keyboard settings from the beginning.
Can I type Japanese?

I also want to install F-Droid by connecting to Trisquel via USB. In other words, I want to download F-Droid on Trisquel, move it to Replicant phone, and install it without turning on the network on Replicant side.
Is it possible? If possible, I would like to install some apps on F-Droid.

It should be possible. You can look up ADB tool on the internet. However, you might be missing the point. F-Droid will be mostly useless without internet connection anyway, so you could instead just install the desired apps via USB.

I don't like ADB.
I wanna Tor or VPN before I get the internet connection.
I don't know what the default apps names are though, it does not seem to be Torbrowser.

Android OSes used to allow installing apps from .apk's. If I am right, you should be able to transfer such apk file to your phone and install it there. As to TorBrowser, it seems to be only present in some third-party F-Droid repo. The first-party one has orWall, though[1].

I see. Can you type Japanese characters on a Replicant phone?

Maybe you can with https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.googlecode.openwnn.legacy/ or https://f-droid.org/en/packages/jp.co.omronsoft.openwnn/

I am using the ".legacy" one on LineageOS because it also supports Chinese (and this is what I want to type).

Hm. Thanks, guys. I don't know why I have to make such an effort, since it's generally a given that if you set it to Japanese, you can type in Japanese, but thanks anyway. I'll give it a try someday.
