Hello.
I have a problem with left Alt key.
It seems when I press it, it highlights shortcut keys in the current program instead of serving me as keycode inducer
Therefore I can't use alt keycode characters (like ąęćśż). They work with right Alt only.
Is there an option to at least achieve the same behaviour on left Alt as it is on the right one?

In the "Layouts" tab of the "Keyboard Preferences", accessible from MATE's Control Center, you can change the keyboard layout or tweak it after clicking on the "Options..." button.

Thanks for your attention.
I figured it out - it's so called "3rd level chooser key", and it's available as you said - under Keyboard-> Layouts -> Options... -> Key to choose 3rd level
and set it to left ALT

Solved.
