Libera.Chat: How to connect?
I have tried to connect to Libera.Chat via Hexchat and their webapp, i.e. https://web.libera.chat/?channel=#trisquel
I cannot connect and the problem seems to be, that I don't have an "account with a verified email address". But I cannot find a way to register an account with an email address, since I cannot connect without a such!
Any idea of how to solve this?
You should be able to connect as a guest, for which you do not need a password.
Else, see https://libera.chat/guides/registration.
Gracias.
I have tried that, but without luck. I keep getting the message, that I must be registered. Even through the webapp:
I see.
Then "Configuring SASL for HexChat" maybe: https://libera.chat/guides/hexchat.
I tried that but you need an "account with a verified email address" to log in!
In the Hexchat window I get: Godkendelse via SASL som GNUbahn (PLAIN)
* SASL authentication failed
* SASL authentication aborted
* *** Notice -- SASL authentication to a NickServ account with a verified email address is required to connect from your current network. Please see https://libera.chat/guides/sasl for configuration assistance.
"Godkendelse" means "authentication"
Perhaps the problem lies somewhere else: In the last four lines of this (part of) the messages in the Hexchat window it says "Checking Ident, Looking up your hostname..., Couldn't look up your hostname, No Ident Response.
Could this be a problem with the Libera.Chat service itself or my configuration of Hexchat's access to it?

I thought SASL authentification would take you to email address verification, but this appears to have been wishful thinking.
I believe you are left with this: "If your home internet providers are restricted, consider using public access wifi hotspots such as those provided by most libraries and many school or work campuses. If you are concerned about access point privacy, you can change your password once you are on a network you trust."
