Libre Game Night!
This weekend's LGN will be this Saturday, August 15th at 12:30pm UTC.
We'll be playing Bos Wars v2.7. (It's in the Trisquel software repo)
As always, at the above time join us at the #LGN Freenode IRC channel.
www.jadedmeta.net/lgn.html
I also updated the site with a list of the games that I randomly choose from, as well as a schedule for the next month of game nights.
If you see a problem with the list, or a game I've missed, please tell me.
R slkv gl xbz gsviv, uivmwh! (Hint: Backwards.)
Ah, sorry-- there's been a last-minute change of plans.
Something's come up, so I won't be able to be present for LGN tomorrow.
Because of this, we won't be playing Bos Wars.
We'll be playing BZFlag instead.
Originally, BZFlag was going to be next week's game, and Bos Wars this week's.
But Bos Wars doesn't have a dedicated server that can be launched from the cli, and since I won't be present (will manage LGN with ssh), a dedicated server is vital. BZFlag, however, does offer a dedicated server that can be launched from cli.
Same time and date, just a different game.
This week's LGN will be this Saturday, August 22nd @ 6:30pm UTC. We'll be playing Bos Wars v2.7! (It's in the software repo, still.)
As always, at the above time join us at the #LGN Freenode IRC channel.

I hope to see you guys there! Bos Wars is a pretty fun RTS.
Sounds great! Some friends and I are wanting to join in but we probably will not be able to make this one. I do have a mumble server available for use if any of you are interested in using it?
Address: Teamlani.mumble.com
Port: 9531
Mark your calendars, guys-- this LGN's on Saturday 19th @ 6:30pm UTC.
We'll be playing 8 Kingdoms, which looks pretty fun! (http://kralovstvi.sourceforge.net/)
http://jadedmeta.net/lgn.html
^_^
(And thanks, Dreamcoat-- sorry I didn't say so sooner!)
installing it now!
JadedCtrl, there is a little bit of confusion with your latest game night post. You say on this forum that the game to be played will be 8 Kingdoms, but the link to your own site lists The Mana World.
Also, I have never yet joined the Libre Game Night, but would like to start. Are new people welcome?
Later Monday night, I tried installing 8 Kingdoms, only to find it was Windows-only-- as such, I updated the site & IRC. I forgot to update this thread, however. My bad.
And of course you're welcome to join us, shyguy! :)
Er, revise your calendars, guys!
This Saturday's (Sept. 19th @ 6:30pm UTC) LGN will be for the game "The Mana World," rather than "8 Kingdoms."
The Mana World was pretty fun. This weekend's game happens to be a very similar game--
This week's LGN will be on Saturday, September 26th @ 12:30am UTC.
We'll play Stendhal, a 2D MORPG.
Hope to see you there!

what about a libre poker night, aka fold, fold, fold, raise, all in?
sudo apt install pokerth
Oh, I'll have to add that to the game list.
One game you might want to add is Dopewars. Great game. I haven't played it with other people yet, but apparently it adds an element of competition where you can do things like spy on and sabotage other players.
Thanks for the suggestion-- I've added it to the list.
The link to download Stendhal on http://www.jadedmeta.net/lgn.html/setup.html seems to be broken. Could you fix that?
Fixed. Sorry about that!
It's still not working for me.
This week's LGN is on Saturday, Oct 24th @ 12:30am UTC.
We'll play Freedoom.
Make sure to join #LGN at the above time!

Isn't Zardronum non-free?
"The Zandronum license only covers Zandronum-specific code. Some source files contain additional notices of original copyright by their contributors."
Indeed, it sounds to me like Zandronum includes ZDoom code, which is proprietary.
In fact, looking a bit further, it definitely is. More specifically, it's directly based on Skulltag, which is based on ZDoom and is covered by the proprietary Doom Source License.
Gloome should work, https://github.com/marrub--/GLOOME/
The syntax is the same as zdoom. In needs SDL2, Openal, FluidSynth, timidity and GLEW devel libraries.
I think it can be compiled statically so any 32 or 64 bit Trisquel user could play it by just downloading and running an attached script to it, and with a *.desktop file pointing to that file.
Server:
gloome -iwad freedoom2.wad -host 2 #number of clients
Client:
gloome -iwad freedoom2.wad -join $SERVER_IP
I am terribly sorry-- this is a horrible mistake on my part.
I've used Zandronum for quite a long time, thinking it was libre.
I'm updating the instructions now.
I'm a bit confused... Is it Freedoom, OpenArena, or OpenTTD? Because the main page still says Freedoom, but the setup page claims it's about OpenArena and actually gives instructions for OpenTTD.
Sorry, my bad-- that was a place-holder until I was able to write up a proper setup page.
We're playing Freedoom, using the Doomsday engine.
from your website for terminal overload:
"My computer isn't strong enough to host this game. If someone would volunteer to host a server, I'd be happy to put this game into circulation."
i have a powerful computer
8 core 3.5ghz
16GB ram 2400mhz
so i could run the server
Ah, thanks tomlukeywood!
I'll put it back in circulation, if that's alright with you. When The RNG decides it's time for Terminal Overload, I'll e-mail you a few weeks in advance. :)
you would not happen to know how to compile Terminal Overload?
when ever i try to compile i get this error message:
CMake Error: The current CMakeCache.txt directory /home/tom/Documents/terminal-overload-master/CMakeCache.txt is different than the directory /home/tom/terminal-overload-master where CMakeCache.txt was created. This may result in binaries being created in the wrong place. If you are not sure, reedit the CMakeCache.txt
tom@trisquel7-gnu-linux:~/Documents/terminal-overload-master$
Delete CMakeCache.txt in the build folder, then run cmake . again.
i have done so and now get this error:
CMake Error at Engine/lib/sdl/CMakeLists.txt:2 (message):
Prevented in-tree built. Please create a build directory outside of the
SDL source code and call cmake from there

This week's LGN is on November 28th at 12:30pm UTC, and we'll play Hedgewars!
#LGN as always.
Cya there!

To play the latest version (with air mines) on Trisquel 7, you need to install http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/h/hedgewars/hedgewars-data_0.9.22-dfsg-2_all.deb and then either https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/hedgewars/+build/8233907/+files/hedgewars_0.9.22-dfsg-2%7Eubuntu14.04.1%7Eppa1_amd64.deb (64 bits) or https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/hedgewars/+build/8233908/+files/hedgewars_0.9.22-dfsg-2%7Eubuntu14.04.1%7Eppa1_i386.deb (32 bits) depending on your architecture.
I will hopefully be able to play... and not forget about it. The game will be played on the official server, right?
This week's LGN is on December 5th @ 6:30pm UTC.
We'll play Hase.
#LGN as always, http://jadedmeta.net/lgn/
This week's LGN will be on December 12th @ 12:30am UTC, and we'll be playing OpenArena.
#LGN, and http://jadedmeta.net/lgn/
