Freest would be no phone or using JMP on a computer with no modem.

Next freest (for now) would be Replicant, followed by LineageOS, but the
neo900 and Librem 5 will be freer once they are available.

How does one do that?

Why would the neo900 and Librem 5 be freer than JMP on a computer with no modem?

It wouldn't necessarily be. It would depend on the freedom of the system
on which you're using JMP. If you use JMP in Windows, your whole OS
is proprietary, so you'll be less free than with the Librem 5 or neo900
whose only proprietary component will be the modem (and only while the
modem is switched on). If you're running Trisquel on a librebooted
machine then that might be freer than the neo900 or Librem 5. If you
have a proprietary BIOS then I'm not sure which would be freer. When
systems have different kinds of freedom issues from each other I'm not
quite sure how to best compare them freedom-wise.

The neo900 and Librem 5 should certainly be freer than Samsung phones,
though.

Sorry, by "zero phone" I thought you meant "no phone."

It looks like the Zero Phone is based on the Raspberry Pi Zero. Assuming
that the Raspberry Pi Zero has the same freedom issues as other
Raspberry Pi models, the Zero Phone will probably be less free than the
neo900 or Librem 5. I don't know much about it, though.
