Is there anything like a Libre external storage device? I am running a T400 with Libreboot. I started wondering about potential issues with USB memory sticks and external USB hard drives or SSD drives. Is there anything I should be concerned about if I would like to use any of these storage devices on my T400? I don’t have enough knowledge about how these work and if there are potential issues with firmware etc.

I believe only the 'nitrokey storage' has mass storage the otehr versions are for storing encryptions keys/passwords/passphrases etc. And it seems the storage version is not yet available. I've been keeping an eye out for when it becomes available myself.

Leah from Minifree directed me to this page about firmware on HDDs/SSDs. Some great info there:

in fact, it was there where I found info about the OpenSSD project.

I think (?) luke from rhombus-tech project (eoma-68 laptop,etc) said
something about a possibility of a standard sata SSD using a20 for the
controller and its sata for the connection to the host computer as with
any normal sata ssd. this way you could have libre firmware :).
