Looking to make beats need help?

I took a bit of Sound Technology and was wondering how do I go about setting up software for making beast I have keyrig 49 keyboard any ideas with this.

Yes Yes and triple Yes :D This application is just amazing, I use it almost everyday to create everything I need for my music :D This software is just amazing, there is a lot of YouTube videos showing the samples available with the software and created with it !

I never had any midi hardware but I have used a combination of rosegarden->fluidsynth for composing and seq24/harmonyseq->rosegarden->fluidsynth/zynaddsubfx would be my choice for performing.
