minifree leah asks for money to get another gender
Is it from a medical point of view even possible to switch the gender?
I mean, how can you replace the sexual organs of a human? If it can be really done, I'm very impressed
and wonder how they do it.
Typical MtF vaginoplasty is basically an inversion of the penis, with some alterations which include rerouting and shortening the urethra, moving the head of the penis to the position where the clitoris should be, removing the testicles (if present), and covering the back of the inside with skin from other areas (typically the scorotum). Hair growth on the inside is prevented beforehand with thorough, intense electrolysis. The end result (after a healing period) functions very similarly to a vagina (enough to be a successful treatment for gender dysphoria), but cannot self-lubricate and of course lacks the female reproductive system.
Some alternative methods exist that can cause the "neo-vagina" (as it is often called) to self-lubricate. One recent one is the peritonium graft method, which is only practiced by one particular surgeon in New York City, and an older one which has been tried before uses cheek tissue to achieve this. But it is impossible, at least currently, to give anyone who is bio-genetically male a female reproductive system. If it's even possible, it would probably require either a donor or growth from stem cells. It would be awesome, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
There are actually some videos that show exactly how the procedure goes, if you're curious. Just search "vaginoplasty", or maybe "mtf vaginoplasty" or "trans vaginoplasty" if that doesn't get the right results.
In some extent it is somehow possible, not 100% of course. Plus strong hormone therapy, probably until end of a life. This is still very experimental medicine and not so rarely finish with patient's death. But lets see where Leah's ambitions will lead.
The hormones are lifelong. It's impossible to make someone who was born male produce estrogen in the right amounts, so at least estrogen is necessary. The need for a testosterone blocker can be eliminated by the removal of the testicles, though that is not guaranteed for everyone.
Just a note, MtF vaginoplasty is not what I would call "experimental". The first MtF SRS was way back in 1930 and the techniques have gotten much better since then. Of course death is always possible, but I don't think it's any more likely with vaginoplasty than with any other plastic surgery, and I think most if not all of those deaths would be from infection (which is a risk inherent to all types of surgery).
By the way, doesn't this belong in the Troll Lounge? I understand that Leah is a member of the libre software community, but I don't see her effort to raise money for vaginoplasty as a topic that's related to libre software.

No, it belongs to the hole. (the troll hole)
STRICTLY ON TOPIC
