Mumble conection to server issues Toutatis
Hi I'm having problems connecting to servers with Mumble. I have installed Mumble by standar Trisquel add get applications. Sometimes I get succesfull connecting, but almost 99% of attemps the application hangs up. I'm suspecting certificate or ssl issues, because usually Mumble have an option to autogenerate certificates, but using GNU it seems is not available to select it. However I think maybe is a short of ip mac network problem. I'm trying to renew my IP via modem restart. But can't connect. Using Mumble primitive 1xx mode under 4wine it seems to be best way to find some info. But the info it points is very strange because they are suggesting me to port from a bonjour component from apple to another that is more gnu liked. The problem here is the direct sound that I can not receive, but they can hear me.
Well, when I recently received this old PC, first I unistalled all apple products from windows, now I know that Trisquel is a good GNU, I'm thinking in to remove all windows completely. But the problem I get using Mumble 4wine is not the same, as the one I get using from gnu repos. That is more related with this one with Brigantia. https://trisquel.info/es/forum/mumble-wont-connect-servers-brigantia
Please if any of our hackers of honor could check it I'll be very gratefull.
Here there is an adress for a server (mumble button (add new). dacer.homeip.net port default, your nick, no psswd needed. Avoid disturb users, however they can help you to confirm connection.
Also I wish to know how to renew ip via terminal, any idea for a newbie.
Thanks in advance.
You say the program kind of freezes up? I had a similar experience. is your cpu pegging out?
The reason I ask is that I had a similar problem with Mumble. It's in this thread:
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/mumble-wont-connect-servers-brigantia
Read my post I pointed out to your case.
Is not a CPU problem is a connection problem. I did connect twice. Intel Celeron.
I know that in Debian is working and Ubuntu too, some friends are using on it.
No idea for the moment I try everyday, last success was 20 days ago. server is okay and log show all my failed attemps. No much info.
You're absolutely right, you did point to that thread in your original post. Sorry for overlooking that and suggesting again that you look at that thread.
Hi again. I've discovered a way to connect to a Mumble server.
1. Start Mumble and connect. Mumble will freezed.
2. Go to System Monitor, close Mumble process.
3. Start Mumble again
4. Create new account pressing button "add new" Fill the server data connection.
5. Enter Mumble settings, network. select proxy connection, fill data server, just server adress, no password.
6. Connect, and wait for a time out.
7. When times out occurs, go to Mumble settings, network. Select direct connection, fill data server, user data (my server has no psswrd). Force TCP, must be checked, quality of service QoS and auto reconnect also must be checked.
8. connect.
9. TIPS: This is not an elegant solution but is working for me, but sometimes, I need to reinstall Mumble, and or remove data server, then edit a new one, force time out, and connect.
We should bring up these problems with the Mumble developers and see if they have any suggestions or insight to what's going on. My work around is less involved but consistent across three installs so I'd say it's still worth bringing up. You and one other person on the forums have noticed issues as well. You've put a finger one where your problems are and maybe that could help the developers fix it.
