I run into one netbook made by Kohjinsha (literally, workers' dormitory) from local dark market. I still want to try to replace the HDD with a CF card.

Last time I tried to replace the HDD of a Sony netbook but had no luck. I found a converter board and installed a CF card on it, but the card was not recognized.

A Thomson Neo 14.1 fell from the sky the other year, and onto my lap. With some ugly OS pre-installed.

It is now running Lubuntu, because there was a respin available without which the install is simply impossible. Wifi is working but sound is not working. It is really crappy hardware but at least it now runs GNU/Linux. I have no idea what to do with it now, it is almost unused but the touchpad is also crappy, so most people would rather stay away from it.

I do not want to send it for recycling, that would go against all my principles, so I am keeping it in its original box and turning it on every other month to check for security updates and tell him everybody loves him. It has an amazing battery life, I am sure we will find a use for it at some point. Maybe a frequent traveler with strong battery life preferences and writing needs would enjoy it best.
