Nonfree software packaged with musical usb devices
Recently I baught an Akai LPK 25 USB Midi-Keyboard that ships with a nonfree software that allows you to configure the device. But I was able to reverse engineer the communications protocol that is used by the device in about an hour. Additionally it comes with a rebate on Ableton Live, which is nonfree too.
Some months ago I baught a USB-Microphone which comes with a nonfree recording software for Windows. However you can use free software such as Audacity or OREMO for recording your UTAULOID. But OREMO is trapped by Windows, so I can't use it.

Great - You should consider doing more with this than just posting it online randomly so as to help others that own this.
I plan to write a free replacement for that program
Maybe gitorious.org which is used by GNU MediaGoblin too.
